Assignment 25A- What's Next?
Assignment 25A- What's Next?
What I think is Next?
- I think what's next for Gainesville on the Go is having their amenities match the quality of the direct and efficient flights they offer. As of right now, there is one little food court in the airport that's service is practically self- sufficient. However, whenever I seem to go there, no one is ever working it. Therefore, I cannot get anything to eat or drink before my flight. This may be that there is not enough demand for them to even bother paying someone to stand there for a few hours. Fix the flights, the planes, and the airport as a whole. Then, fix the amenities.
Existing Market Interviews:
- I interviewed three students who attend the University of Florida. I interviewed Jamie, Cassidy, and Jacob. I chose these students because I have interviewed them before for the opportunity, and wanted to catch them up on the ideas I have added since then. I asked them what they think I should be doing next. They each had different answers. Jamie was with me, agreeing that the airport is in desperate need of a good food court. Cassidy suggested comfortable chairs for the airlines that are different than any other plane before. Finally, Jacob's answer had me most intrigued. He said to get UF to include a bus stop/station that brings students to and from the Gainesville airport.
Reflection:
- After listening to the three individuals I interviewed, I realized there is a lot of things I can improve on in the airport. I definitely should interview more people because they had great ideas that I hadn't even thought of. There are various ways to improve my opportunity which is great, however I am most caught up on Jacob's idea. UF providing transportation to the airport would make getting to and from the University even more efficient. It shows incentive, and that the university really cares about it's students.
New Market:
- Currently, I am marketing B2C. For this new market, I want to market B2B. I want to see how businesses would like to take part in my airport, the locations it would market to, and if I could get businesses to participate by bartering with them. For example, I would offer sponsorships, get the University involved, etc. Therefore, I decided to interview my Uncle who is apart of Delta airlines, and I even went as far as speaking with a representative from American Airlines. I asked both of them a bunch of questions, and was throughly pleased with the answers and patience they gave me.
Reflection:
I was very surprised at how easy it was to contact people in different businesses and spark up a conversation about possibly working together/ getting them involved in an opportunity. Businesses are always looking to profit, find more consumers, and become common among society. The more business they partake in, the more money they make. Their reliability would increase with good service, therefore, partaking in a new venture gives businesses opportunities they cannot find elsewhere.
Hi Sarah! I like your what's next idea. What really stood out to me was the last sentence of that bullet. I agree that once you have more people coming into the airport, the demand for better amenities will go up. As for the B2B idea, getting businesses to sponsor the airport would be a great idea. People will donate a lot of money just to get their name on the front of the building, so if it is presented correctly it could really work.
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah! I agree with your plan to fix the flights and airport and then fix the amenities. I believe that makes sense assuming your idea would bring in more business to the Gainesville airport and therefore bring more of a demand for something like a food court. I was excited to see that one of your interviewees suggested a more comfortable seat! I sense a business collaboration coming on😉 All in all I think you are definitely going in the right direction with your idea, and its cool to see how passionate you really are about it.
