30A- Final Reflection

30A- Final Reflection

What sticks out to you as the most formative experience? The experience that you'll remember years later? What was your most joyous experience? What experience are you most proud of yourself for accomplishing?
  • I definitely will remember making the bug list.  I had expected it to be so easy, but as I kept climbing the numbers on the list I had to think harder and harder to think of things that bothered me.  It was hard because I realize that being an entrepreneur isn't fixing things that just "bother you", it is about finding unmet needs.  I struggled with this at first, but then once I got it the list became easier to finish.
  • My most joyous experience was making my first elevator pitch.  I thought I was going to hate it and that it would take me forever to record.  However, because the opportunity I picked was an unmet need I had myself it was very easy for me to talk about.  I was proud of the pitch I made and ultimately the video I produced.
  • I am most proud of myself for completing every single assignment in this class.  I think I have only missed 1 or 2 cupcakes, but since I completed the extra credit my grade was not penalized.
At the beginning of the semester, I mentioned that I wanted each of you to develop an entrepreneurial mindset. Now, at the end, do you see yourself as an entrepreneur? Do you think you have moved closer to developing an entrepreneurial mindset?
  • At the beginning of the semester, I truly had no idea what it mean to be an entrepreneur.  Now at the end of the semester, I am happy to say that I see myself as an entrepreneur.  I think this is because I now think like an entrepreneur, I am developing that entrepreneurial mindset.  I see opportunities in failure, opportunities in unmet needs, and have even begun to have an admiration for shark tank ( a show that features entrepreneurs and their products and services they have created).
What is the one recommendation you would make to the students who are going to journey down this path in the future? What would you recommend they do to perform best in this course? What would you recommend they do to foster that mindset?
  • For students who are going to take this class, my one recommendation would be to get ahead.  In the beginning of the semester, you should analyze all the courses you are taking.  This is a great course to achieve the easy A you need, but you can only achieve it if you complete each and every assignment.  Don't take the easy way out and skip an assignment because you don't think you need it.  The points add up quickly.  Do every assignment and do it in advance so you can focus on other courses.
  • To perform best in this course, I suggest you stay ahead as I mentioned above.  I also suggest you look at the blog directory and find people who seem to complete the assignments earlier also.  This will help you with getting the whole assignment done, and not having to remember to go back a week later to do the peer reviews.
  • To foster an entrepreneurial mindset, I would definitely watch the lectures. Our professor explains entrepreneurship  and all of its aspects immensely and in great detail.  Truly listen, and take advantage of what is being told to you!

  1. Hey Sarah. I also will forever remember my efforts in bringing my Bug assignment to life. It is certainly a difficult, yet highly fulfilling activity. It was hard to think about twenty whole things that bother me all in one sitting. Therefore, I found it helpful to think over the span of a few days. Definitely frustrating to say the least. Also, I agree that receiving a great grade in this class is achievable. BUT, students must put the work in to make it happen. Great job reflecting on this semester. I hope that you learned a lot and use these principles in your future!

  2. Hi Sarah, I can say for myself that the bug list for me was a very enlightening experience. It allowed me to realize all of the opportunities available within my surroundings that have not been addressed. I also feel that this class prepared me becoming an effective entrepreneur and being competitive in the market. Furthermore, your advice for future students is the biggest key to this class because being ahead on your assignments helps a lot.

  3. Hi Sarah! I really appreciate the advice that you give. A lot of us accidentally miss one or two assignments and it ends up affecting us in the end. It would be very beneficial to students if they realized at the beginning instead of at the end. Also, I agree with what you said about the bug list. That assignment was also difficult for me because it made me realize that I really didn't observe many opportunities around me. It took me a couple of days to finish because of that. It has been wonderful commenting on your blog this semester! Good luck in the future!
